A few of my favorite blogs

The blogosphere is full of good stuff, and I'm finding more all the time. It's not possible to read everything, of course, but here are a few of my favorites. If you already know how good these sites are, feel free to rave about them in the Comments section!

Writing and Ruminating (by Kelly Fineman)
updated: daily
content and special features: all about the craft of writing; book reviews; author interviews; Poetry Fridays; "quote-skimming" on Sundays
It's true that I consider Kelly a friend, but I would recommend her blog regardless. A nice mix of every aspect of writing, and Poetry Fridays with extraordinary depth. Not only does our Ms. Fineman know how to explain poetry and write knockout book reviews, she has a sense of humor too!

Shrinking Violet Promotions (by Mary Hershey and Robin LaFevers)
updated: about twice a week
content and special features: information and encouragement for introverts negotiating the world of publishing
If you're one of those people who became a writer because you like sitting alone in a room, and you wonder how to deal with today's promotion-heavy world, this site is for you. Now is a particularly good time to check out the blog, because they're discussing things to do when you're getting ready to launch a book. Aside from all the practical tips, there's plenty of moral support for introverts.

Cynsations (by Cynthia Leitich Smith)
updated: weekdays (currently on hiatus until Feb. 1)
content and special features: publishing news; author interviews
Provides valuable links, news, and some of the most in-depth interviews I've seen.

Nathan Bransford, Literary Agent
updated: weekdays
content and special features: publishing news; practical tips on agent-seeking; "You Tell Me" on Wednesdays; "This Week in Publishing" on Fridays; occasional contests
Yes, he's my agent, but I read his blog regularly even before that was true, and I would recommend this site regardless. I came for the practical advice (how to query, how to write a synopsis, what rejection letters may or may not mean, etc.) and stayed for the jokes. (And the practical advice!)

Editorial Anonymous (by an anonymous editor)
updated: several times a month
content and special features: insider's view of an editor's world
If you like your advice straight and to the point, if you want to know what editors are really thinking without sugar-coating, you'll want to check this out.

Author2Author (by Lisa Schroeder, Kristina Springer, Deena Lipomi, Emily Marshall, and Kate Fall)
updated: weekdays
content and special features: five writers, at different stages of their careers, give their views on the writing and publishing journey
Each writer posts on a particular day of the week. Because they are all at different stages in the publishing and pre-publishing process, you get a broad view of the whole process.

LJ Friends:
I read many writers' blogs; I'm partial to those about the craft and process of writing. For a sampling, click on my "Friends" link to the left of this post.
