My journal is about writing. And about life, experienced as a writer.
My latest young adult novel is TRY NOT TO BREATHE (Viking/Penguin, 2012): In the summer after his suicide attempt, sixteen-year-old Ryan struggles with guilty secrets and befriends a girl who’s visiting psychics to try to reach her dead father.
My first young adult novel is THE SECRET YEAR (Viking/Penguin, 2010): After his secret girlfriend's death, seventeen-year-old Colt finds the notebook she left behind, but he is unprepared for the truths he discovers about their intense relationship.
I have also published short stories in a variety of print and online journals, including POCKETS, WILLOW REVIEW, NORTH AMERICAN REVIEW, and FLASHQUAKE. More information about my work, including ordering info, is here.
