Writing & walking
Sometimes I do my best "writing" away from the writing desk.
In this case, I don't mean taking a notebook and sitting someplace other than my usual writing spot. I mean forgetting about the computer, the pen, the notebook altogether, and walking.
Physical activity is essential to my writing. In my case, the physical activity is hiking. For some people, maybe it is running or biking or swimming, dancing or yoga or something else. Walking gets the blood flowing, refills the well of imagination, opens my senses. Sometimes lines for a work in progress start dancing through my mind. Or I'll see something that sparks the idea for a whole new project. Even if inspiration doesn't strike, the exercise does me good.
It's very important for me as a writer to plant my butt in the chair every day. It's also important for me to get out of the chair sometimes.
Whatever you do to exercise--enjoy!
