I'm glad I chose yesterday to visit the Philadelphia Book Festival, because today it is POURING. Again. Except for 2 sunny weeks in April, and the occasional bright day here and there, we seem to be living the same cool, rainy day over and over. The calendar pages flip, but we never seem to get closer to an extended period of sunny warmth.
Enough whining. After all, yesterday I had the privilege of making the rounds with pal Jessica, hearing some poetry at the open-mike event, stopping in at the Children's Book World booth (where I ended up buying DIARY OF A WIMPY KID, highly recommended by both my niece and the enthusiastic CBW employee), chatting with the folks at McSweeney's and the Painted Bride Quarterly (I heart literary magazines), browsing the booths, directing bicyclist David from Baltimore to the Bicentennial Moon Tree (hope you found it, David! The moon tree was not part of the Book Festival, but is a quirky Philadelphia landmark), and soaking in the whole bookish atmosphere. Then I came home and worked on my revision.
Here is a multiple-choice test to see if you can guess what is on my plate for today:
a) Work on my revision.
b) Work on my revision.
c) Work on my revision.
d) All of the above.
